You probably know about UV rays, but what about blue-violet light? When youhear blue-violet light, you may think of electronic devices and digital screens,but that's only part of the story.

WHAT IS BLUE-VIOLET LICHT?

Light itself is composed of non-visible and visible light. UV lightis an example of non-visible light that is emitted from the sun.
Visible light, on the other hand, is light our eyes see as colorsviolet, indigo, red, green, yellow, orange, and blue-violet light.

IS BLUE-VIOLET LIGHT HARMFUL?

In small amounts, the blue-turquoise range of the light spectrumcan actually have some beneficial effects on your overall health.helping to regulate your sleep/wake cycle.
But blue-violet light can be harmful to our eyes and can causeeyestrain and fatigue. Over-exposure to blue-violet light,especially outside in the sun and through constant use ofelectronic devices and screens, is why protecting your vision hasnever been more important.

WHERE IS BLUE-VIOLET LIGHT FOUND?

Blue-violet light is everywhere. lt is found indoors and outdoorsfrom sources such electronic devices and the sun (blue-violetlight emitted by the sun is why the sky appears blue). In fact, youcan be exposed 100X to 500X the intensity of blue-violet lightoutdoors than with digital devices.
Outdoors, we're exposed to high-intensity blue-violet light fromthe sun. (Squinting is our body's natural defense against harshlight and bright glare.) Indoors, we're exposed to blue-violet lightfrom our screens, LED displays, and digital devices.
